Emergency Call Out to Flood Incident

The Task

Martin Cook Electrical Services was called out to respond to a flood incident that had occurred in a basement containing two Electrical Switchboards.

The Outcome

The MCES team promptly responded to the flood emergency, arriving at the site within two hours. Their first priority was to assess the situation and ensure safety in the affected area. To achieve this, they coordinated with UK Power Networks to arrange a complete shutdown of the Low Voltage (LV) system from the local transformer.

Working in collaboration with a drainage company, the team focused on removing the water over the course of a few days before proceeding with their operations. They conducted an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) on the LV switchgear, identifying necessary repairs to restore its functionality. The team utilised Ductor testing, maintenance of Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) and Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs), secondary injection testing, and client-witnessed torque testing to ensure the switchgear was not irreparably damaged.

Within two days, the diligent work of Martin Cook Electrical Services enabled the re-energisation of the panel, ensuring its operational functionality once again. The team’s swift response, comprehensive assessments, and coordinated efforts with external partners resulted in the safe and efficient restoration of the electrical system, mitigating potential risks associated with the flood incident.
